Hi guys, let's talk about something out of the pocket
Today I found myself thinking about how something that is so small, and feels so insignificant can evoke memories.
Small, but very effective, and neatly packaged, it is usually found in the pocket of my jeans, or at the bottom of a backpack. I grab it and assess how much I have left in the package, then I take a piece. It looks so simple, it wouldn't make you look twice.
I pop one piece in my mouth and move it around as I start chewing. It goes from one side of my mouth to the other, trying to break it down and extract the icy flavor.
Its taste demands attention. Whatever flavor there was before, it gets wiped out by this strong, cooling sensation. The freshness lands first on my tongue, then it travels around my mouth, moving between my teeth and gums.
My mouth resembles a winter landscape painting. The icy, cooling effect is omnipresent like cold wind and my tongue feels like sharp icicles. I exhale, almost waiting to see steam come out of my mouth. If I closed my eyes, and focus, I could almost hear my friends' laughter as we used to play outside in the snow, throwing snowballs at each other.
If chewing gum can help evoke good memories, I wonder what other everyday items which we tend to overlook, could impact us if we give them the attention and appreciation.
Can you think of a similar experience that has happened to you?
I will clearly enjoy your feedback! :)
